Topic: 

A Resolution to Authorize the Award of a Contract for the Construction of the Fire Training Facility

Topic Description:

The Board of Supervisors has authorized the construction of a burn building and training area for County fire personnel.  Grant funds have been obtained from the State Fire Prevention Program to assist with the project costs. 

Provisions of the Special Exception Permit have been met and County approvals received allowing construction to proceed.

Ten bids were received on March 31, 2010. It is recommended that the bid be awarded to the low bidder, Miller Brothers in the amount of $708,611.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of a resolution to award the contract for construction of the Fire Training Facility.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Funds are available in the Capital Budget in the amount of $1,006,792 for this project.  A portion of this available balance includes grant funds from the Virginia Fire Programs grant.
