Topic: 

A Resolution to Authorize the Lease of Approximately Five Hundred (500) Square Feet of Office Area at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport for the Purpose of Offering Flight School Services

Topic Description:

The Airport Committee has conducted a request for proposals process to lease space at the airport seeking a business to provide flight school services.  The current contract has expired.  A request for proposals was issued in January and two responses were received.  A subcommittee evaluated the proposals and the Airport Committee considered this matter at its meeting on March 30, 2010 and recommends that the space be leased to Aviation Adventures, LLC.  The company currently provides similar services at other airports in the area.  It is anticipated that the location of the company at the airport will result in additional services to the public.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the resolution to authorize execution of the lease for a five year period.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The lease will provide annual income to the airport in the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00).  It is also anticipated that the new business will have a positive impact on fuel sales and on other businesses currently located at the airport.
