Topic: 

A Resolution to Authorize the Execution of a Contract for a Lease at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport

Topic Description:

Fauquier County and representatives of Essar Aviation, LLC, have completed constructive discussions to modify the current contract for the lease and operation of a fixed based operation (FBO) concession at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport. Major revisions to the agreement entail the County accepting responsibility for fuel sales and providing support for Airport operations. Essar will continue to lease space from the County to provide flight instruction and aircraft maintenance and repair services. This discussion of responsibilities is similar to the structure at other local airports such as in Culpeper and Stafford Counties. At a meeting held on March 26, 2007, the Airport Committee reviewed and unanimously approved the attached lease agreement.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

It is expected that the new structure will provide additional income to the Airport once the transition is complete. Lease income will increase $6,000 per year commencing May 1, 2008.
