Topic: 

A Resolution to Award a Contract for Improvements to the Data Center

Topic Description:

The Board of Supervisors previously authorized improvements to the Data Center located in the basement of the Alice Jane Childs Building.  The improvements will enhance security, improve the heating and cooling required to support computer equipment and to provide a UPS system and generator in order to minimize the possible disruption of service.  The Facilities Planning and Implementation Committee has reviewed this project, which has been designed by a mechanical/electrical engineering firm, and independently reviewed by a third party.  The project is out to bid with bids scheduled to be opened on April 6, 2006.  Bid results will be reported at the Board Meeting.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Funds have been included in the FY07 budget plan for this work.
