On March 1, 2005, Fauquier
County received proposals for dental insurance in response
to a request for proposals. The Health Insurance Advisory
Committee reviewed and evaluated proposals from four
entities, focusing on qualifications and experience, network
access, costs, and the ability to meet the County and
Schools timeline and administrative needs. The Committee
also considered self-insured and fully insured options, and
has recommended a fully insured plan proposed by Delta
Dental. As a part of the negotiations with Delta Dental, a
cap on future rate increases was also achieved that limits
the maximum increase of 5.5 % in year two, and 7.0% increase
in year three.
Attached are charts that
illustrate the basic dental benefits to be provided, as well
as the contributions required of employees for various plan
options. Although there are increased contributions, the
benefits and availability of providers are also improving.
The fully insured dental plan will stand alone so that
participation in the health and dental plans will no longer
be linked, thereby providing additional options for
employees.
