Topic: 

A Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Not Less Than Three and Not More Than Ten Lots in the Rappahannock Landing Subdivision, for Tourism and Recreation Purposes

Topic Description:

The proposed resolution authorizes the County Attorney and County Administrator to take all actions necessary to purchase three (3) lots from the developer of the Rappahannock Landing Subdivision, at $125,000 per lot.  The resolution also authorizes the County Administrator and County Attorney to purchase additional lots up to a total of ten (10) lots with any donations received from the Piedmont Environmental Council and/or the citizens of the County.  Finally, the resolution authorizes the use of the Southern Sports Fields Complex money for the purchase of the lots, and directs that any donation of funds over and above the amount needed to purchase the ten lots will be used to reimburse the Southern Sports Field Complex account.  The purchase of the lots is for historical and recreation purposes.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The fiscal impact is $375,000 which is to be borrowed from the Southern Sports Field Complex fund.  Any donation of funds over and above the amount needed to purchase the ten lots will be used to reimburse the Southern Sports Field Complex account.
