Lead & Department Topic
A Resolution Establishing an Environmental Clean-Up Program Fauquier County is seeking to develop more capabilities to reduce the
amount of litter and debris that is present along many roadways.
County staff has looked into the acquisition of a vehicle that has
the capability of picking up larger debris (old appliances, tires, piles
of trash) through the use of a hydraulic arm.
The cost of the truck is estimated to be $85,000 and the funding
for three staff to implement this program is $72,600.
A portion of the staff time would be used to assist in the
recycling program, thereby off setting $28,000 in contracted services
currently budgeted. It is envisioned that this new capability would be used to support
voluntary clean-up programs, as well as, to provide service to residents
on a scheduled basis. Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors Consider
adopting the attached
resolution. Financial Impacts Analysis Landfill
operations from the construction and demolition debris program have
generated sufficient funds for the program.
The program will require a one-time capital outlay for equipment of
approximately $85,000 and a recurring net expense for staff of
approximately $44,600. Funds
are available in the Landfill Fund for this purpose. Identify Any Other Departments, Organizations or Individuals That Would be Affected by This Request Department of
