RESOLUTION A
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE TAX RATE FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2002
FOR REAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE MARSHALL ELECTRIC POWER
AND LIGHT SERVICE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Marshall Community League has contracted with Dominion
Virginia Power for the provision of operation and maintenance of street
lights in the unincorporated town of Marshall (hereinafter
“Marshall”); and WHEREAS,
the Marshall Community League has funded the cost of the operation and
maintenance of the street lights in Marshall through bingo and other
fundraising efforts; and WHEREAS,
the Marshall Community League is no longer willing or able to support the
cost of the maintenance and operation of street lights in Marshall through
bingo and other fundraising efforts; and WHEREAS,
the Marshall Townhouse Association has requested that the street lights
located within the townhouse development also be included in any service
district established herein; and WHEREAS,
on March 18, 2002, the Board of Supervisors, by ordinance, established the
Marshall Electric Power and Light Service District for the purpose of
providing street lights within the service district; and WHEREAS,
Section 8-52.1 of the Fauquier County Code permits the Board of
Supervisors to annually levy a tax on the assessed value of real property
located in the Marshall Electric Power and Light Service District to pay
for the provision of street light services within the district; and WHEREAS,
after due notice and public hearing, the Board of Supervisors held a
public hearing to receive citizen comment on a proposed resolution
establishing the annual tax rate for Calendar Year 2002 for the Marshall
Electric Power and Light Service District at two cents (2¢) per one
hundred dollars ($100) assessed value for all real property located in the
District; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, this 15th day of April 2002, That the Board of Supervisors hereby establishes an annual tax rate for calendar year 2002 for the Marshall Electric Power and Light Service District at two cents (2¢) per one hundred dollars ($100) assessed value for all real property located in the District. |
