As
part of the recently negotiated cable television
franchise renewal, the County negotiated with Adelphia
Cable an initial equipment grant of $61,345 to assist the County
with the purchase and installation of equipment to allow for
televising Board meetings and other governmental programming, as
well as programming from the Fauquier Public Schools.
A
proposed plan for installing video tape/broadcast equipment in the
Warren Green meeting room is estimated to be approximately
$20,000. The plan
includes improvements to the audio system, the installation of two
(2) stationary cameras, one of which being voice directional,
recording and broadcast equipment and all the equipment and
infrastructure required.
Initial
broadcasts shall be taped delayed until such time that the cable
company's fiber optic network is completed, at which time live
broadcast will become an option.
In either case, a videotaped recording will be archived and
available to the public. The proposed plan also includes the installation of an
improved time limit notification system for speakers.
Billy Jenkins, General Services Department Director,
has worked with County Administration to prepare the
proposed plan and will oversee its completion once approved.
