PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO HONOR JAMES LAWRENCE IN

RECOGNITION OF THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED

SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF FAUQUIER COUNTY

            WHEREAS, James Lawrence has served the citizens of Fauquier County with distinction for thirty-eight years; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Lawrence has devoted a large portion of his adult life to the election process in Fauquier County where he has served under seven Governors; and

            WHEREAS, from 1965 until 1980, Mr. Lawrence served as an election officer where he assisted Fauquier County citizens in voting at the precincts; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lawrence served as Vice-Chairman of the Electoral Board from 1980 to 1982 and again from 1998 until his retirement in 2003; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Lawrence also served as Secretary of the Electoral Board from 1982 until 1998; and

            WHEREAS, during his thirty-eight year career with the election process, Mr. Lawrence has wrapped over 450,000 ballots to be used at the precincts in Fauquier County; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Lawrence has trained and shared his expertise with over 3,000 election officers to prepare them for service at the precincts in Fauquier County ; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 21^st day of April 2003, That James Lawrence be, and is hereby, commended for his many years of service to the citizens of Fauquier County ; and, be it

            PROCLAIMED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the citizens of Fauquier County , extends gratitude and best wishes to James Lawrence for a most enjoyable retirement.
