A Resolution to Authorize an Agreement with Mid-Atlantic Aviation to Lease Property for the Development of a Clear Span Hangar at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport

Topic Description:

Fauquier County has been awarded a grant for the design of a clear span hangar at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport.  As with other projects at the Airport, the County seeks a developer capable of undertaking a project consistent with the Airport Master Plan and willing to provide the local grant match for the design phase and for required site improvements associated with a subsequent Airport grant.   

A request for proposals was issued and the Airport Committee evaluated two potential projects.  The Airport Committee has determined that the proposal submitted by Mid-Atlantic Aviation is most responsive to the needs of the County.  In order for the project to proceed, the County will need to lease property for the clear span hangar in a manner similar to the leases previously authorized for the development of four t-hangars.  The first step in this process is to conduct a public hearing.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The lease and construction of a clear span hangar will annually generate income for the operation of the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport.
