A Resolution to Abandon a Portion of Dumfries Road (Route 605) in Fauquier County

Topic Description:

Due to the relocation and construction on Dumfries Road (Route 605), the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has requested that 0.01 miles of the old location of Dumfries Road be abandoned.  The portion to be abandoned is shown on the sketch attached with VDOT’s request.  In conjunction with new road construction, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to abandon roads by resolution.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Transportation Committee Recommendation:

On March 29, 2006, the Transportation Committee recommended approval of the abandonment.

There was no financial impact analysis required for this request.
