RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL COMPETITIVE GRANT FUNDING FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ON BEHALF OF THE PIEDMONT DISPUTE RESOLUTION COUNCIL (PDRC) WHEREAS, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding is available through the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program of the Department of Justice for the purpose of improving resources and services for victims of crime in an effort to create and preserve jobs; and WHEREAS, the PDRC is reliant upon grant funding for its continued operation, without which operations will be eliminated or sharply reduced and staff will be terminated; and WHEREAS, the grant funds, if received, would allow the PDRC to continue operations at the current level for an additional two years; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 14th day of May 2009, That the Board of Supervisors does hereby authorize staff to submit an application to the Department of Justice for the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Fund Program on behalf of the PDRC; and, be it RESOLVED FINALLY, That the County Administrator be, and is hereby, authorized to sign documents related to this grant application.
