Topic: A Resolution Directing the County Administrator to Take All Actions

Necessary to Institute the Road Abandonment Process for a Portion of

Old Route 671, Which Has Been Discontinued for Maintenance

Topic Description:

On November 18, 2002 , the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution directing the County Administrator to institute the road abandonment process for portions of Old State Route 671 near Paris .  That resolution did not cite the correct Code of Virginia reference; therefore, a revised resolution is attached reflecting the correct Code citation.  In addition, the revised resolution clarifies that while the portion of the road to be abandoned is not maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), it is still officially listed in the State Highway Maintenance System.

If the proposed portion of Route 671 is abandoned, VDOT will continue to maintain approximately 0.1 mile of Route 671 from the northbound lane of Route 50 to the Paris water tank lot.
