Topic: A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE  $600,000 FOR WARRENTON/TAYLOR MIDDLE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT DESIGN WORK

Topic Description:

Expansion and renovation of Warrenton and Taylor Middle Schools is scheduled to begin in FY 2005.  In FY 2002 $4.3 million was appropriated for this project and $4.2 million has been identified for appropriation in FY 2005.  The total $8.5 million is expected to be borrowed in FY 2005. 

The School Division has requested $600,000 for design and engineer work on this project beginning in FY 2003.  While the appropriations are currently adequate, actual revenue supporting the appropriation will not be available until FY 2005. 

To accommodate the School Division’s request, it is recommended that the Board of Supervisors authorize the School Division to expend up to $600,000 prior to receipt of the bond proceeds.  This funding would be supported from unexpended appropriations in the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Fund, with reimbursement for the design and engineer costs from the bond proceeds in FY 2005. 

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Adopt the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Adequate unexpended appropriations will be available in the CIP for this purpose.
