Topic: 

A Resolution to Award a Contract for the Installation of an Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport

Topic Description:

The Virginia Department of Aviation has approved funding for an Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport.  The project was previously bid in June 2005, and the bids were rejected at that time since the low bid was above the engineer’s estimate.  The project was re-bid in April 2006, in conjunction with other work being funded by the State at the Airport.  Three bids were received, and the low bid submitted by Austin Electric is $26,000 below the previous bid.  The low bid and related construction management are eligible for 80% funding from the Virginia Department of Aviation.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The local share for the grant is available from Airport funds.
