Topic: 

A Resolution to Award a Contract for Landfill Operations to Hamilton Rich & Sons, Inc.

Topic Description:

Fauquier County utilizes the services of a private contractor to operate the landfills in conformance with the requirements of the Department of Environmental Quality.  The current contract has been in place for the past nine (9) years.

 

On May 3, 2005, two proposals were received to provide this service for a five (5) year period with the option of renewing the contract for two (2) additional five (5) year periods.  The criteria utilized to evaluate the proposals included an assessment of the experience and qualifications of the offerer and staff to be assigned, personnel equipment available to satisfy service requirements, references from previous governmental clients, compliance with terms and conditions, and the proposed fees.  Attached is a memo from the Director of Environmental Services that provides additional information concerning the cost and services to be provided and recommends the award of the contract to Hamilton Rich & Sons Inc.

 

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Funding will be provided from the Landfill Enterprise Fund to support this level of services.
