Topic:

 A Resolution Authorizing the County Administrator to Enter into an Agreement for Traffic Signal Preemption for Emergency Purposes with the Virginia Department of Transportation

Topic Description:

Upon recommendation of the Public Safety and Finance Committees, the County wishes to accomplish preemption of the traffic signals at the intersections of Business Route 29 and Alwington Road, and U.S. Route 29 and Business 29.  Traffic data collected by VDOT indicates that traffic signal prevention would be beneficial in these areas.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Fauquier County must agree to pay all costs necessary to purchase, install and maintain the traffic preemption devices.  The initial cost of purchase and installation is approximately $15,000.
