Topic:

A Resolution Endorsing the 2002-2003 Needs Assessment Report as Conducted and Developed by the Fauquier County Disability Services Board

Topic Description:

The Code of Virginia mandates the duties of local Disability Services Boards.  One of these duties is to conduct and develop a Needs Assessment Report to identify and address the needs and priorities of citizens with physical and/or sensory disabilities.  This Report (once endorsed by the Disability Services Board and the Board of Supervisors) shall be filed with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Rehabilitative Services, Office of Disability Services Boards.  Copies of the Report will be distributed to public libraries and other related agencies to fulfill the mandate.

On May 14, 2003 , the Disability Services Board members unanimously recommended endorsement of the Needs Assessment Report 2002-2003.  The Disability Services Board recommends that the Board of Supervisors endorse the Needs Assessment Report 2002-2003 and directs staff to file same with the Department of Rehabilitative Services and distribute copies to libraries and related agencies.

Requested Action:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
