The
County is in a unique position to obtain a matching federal grant
for the Farmland Preservation Program.
Attached is the FPP-PDR application form, Sample PDR
Funding Source Sheet, and a Summary of the Virginia's Conservation
Tax Credit (allows sale of tax credits).

Requested
Action of the Board of Supervisors:
|
|
To
hold a work session during which the PDR committee may provide the
status of pending farm prospects, and Mary Heinricht of American
Farmland Trust, and Leslie Grayson of Virginia Outdoor Foundation
may present information regarding the matching federal grant
program.
Due
to short grant application timeline, Board of Supervisors approval
may be required to validate grant submission.

Financial
Impacts Analysis:

Purchase
of Development Rights could expend CIP funds withheld for such
purpose.
$175,000 is available for such expenditure.
