Topic:
SPECIAL EXCEPTION #SE
02-S-16; TO ALLOW FOR AN OUTDOOR EDUCATIONAL USE, AS WELL AS AN
OVERNIGHT TENT CAMPGROUND IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE SCHOOL USE;
SCOTT MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT.
|
|
Topic Description:
The
applicant is seeking Special Exception approval under Section
5-505 and Section 5-907 of the Zoning Ordinance for an outdoor
educational use and an associated overnight tent campground.
The proposed uses are to be located on a 91-acre farm on
the east side of Landmark School Road, about one-half mile north
of its intersection with Bull Run Mountain Road. The applicant proposes to offer weekly overnight
educational camp sessions for nine (9) weeks during the summer
months from June 10th to August 16th. Each
session will be limited to twelve (12) students.
As determined by the Health Department, a
bathhouse served by a new drain field and well, will be needed for
shower and restroom facilities.
Since the conditions of a conservation easement, held by
the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, limit new construction on the
property, the bathhouse must be accommodated within an existing
building or constructed as a pool house adjacent to the existing
swimming pool. The
latter option is proposed.
