Topic:  6^th ADDITION TO THE COBBLER MOUNTAIN AGRICULTURAL AND FORESTAL DISTRICT

This is a request by Patricia Barraza Vos to add approximately 50 acres to the Cobbler Mountain Agricultural and Forestal District that will expire on March 6, 2006. 

The application was received after the Planning Commission’s April 25, 2002 meeting.  The Code of Virginia states that any owner of additional qualifying land may join the application within thirty days from the date the notice is published, or with consent of the local governing body before the Board of Supervisors public hearing.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Hold a public hearing and take action as deemed appropriate.  Should the Board move to approve this request, a proposed Ordinance is attached.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The Code of Virginia Article 15.4312 Effects of Districts - A.  This section states “land lying within a district and used in agricultural or forestal production shall automatically qualify for an agricultural and forestal use-value pursuant to Article 4 of Chapter 32 of Title 58.1 if the requirements for such assessment contained therein are satisfied.” 

This property is currently in land use taxation.
