A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO CEASE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO INSTITUTE THE ROAD ABANDONMENT PROCESS FOR A PORTION OF WESLEY CHAPEL ROAD WHICH HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED FOR MAINTENANCE AND IS NOT CURRENTLY IN THE STATE SECONDARY SYSTEMS OF HIGHWAYS

Topic Description:

On March 18, 2002, the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution directing the County Administrator to take all necessary actions to institute the road abandonment process for a portion of Wesley Chapel Road, which has been discontinued for maintenance and is not currently in the State Secondary System of Highways.  The portion of Wesley Chapel Road proposed to be abandoned is approximately 1/4 mile long and is shown on Fauquier County geographic information system plat, dated March 5, 2002, entitled "Portion of Wesley Chapel Road to be Abandoned," which plat is attached to this Agenda Request. Lori Bakewell, a resident of Wesley Chapel Road, initiated the road abandonment request on this matter. By letter received on May 14, 2002, Ms. Bakewell now requests that the County cease its consideration of the abandonment of the portion of Wesley Chapel Road.  On March 29, 2002, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors and the Transportation Committee unanimously voted to withdraw its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors that it abandon the aforesaid portion of Wesley Chapel Road.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
