PROCLAMATION
A PROCLAMATION TO DESIGNATE JUNE 26-27, 2004 AS AMATEUR RADIO WEEKEND IN FAUQUIER COUNTY
WHEREAS, Amateur Radio operators are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission; and
WHEREAS, Fauquier County has more than one hundred seventy-five licensed Amateur Radio operators who have demonstrated their skills and value to the public by providing emergency radio communications; and
WHEREAS, the Fauquier Amateur Radio Association has participated in nearly every major emergency event in the County, including staffing shelters, the hospital, and the Warrenton Emergency Operations Center with radio operators during Hurricane Isabel; and
WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators donate their services free of charge to the County and charitable groups in the interest of safety for citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service is established under the Commonwealth of Virginia Emergency Operations Center; and
WHEREAS, Amateur Radio operators will be practicing their emergency communications skills during the weekend of June 26-27, 2004; now, therefore, be it
PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 21st day of June 2004, That June 26-27, 2004, be, and is hereby, designated as Amateur Radio Weekend in Fauquier County.
