Topic: 

A Resolution Authorizing the County Administrator to Execute an Agreement with the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy

Topic Description:

Fauquier County has been working with the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy to assure that County buildings, programs, facilities, and services are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and accessible by disabled persons.  The County and the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy have developed an Agreement which addresses locations that may not be compliant, and identifies the timing and process by which the County will make improvements to its buildings.  Of particular note is the requirement regarding projects designated for the County’s CIP process.  The Agreement requires that the County submit a facility modification plan to the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy and, once approved, that the parties will confer regarding the timing of the improvements.  The proposed resolution authorizes the County Administrator to enter into the Agreement with the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy, using the County’s CIP as the facility modification plan.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
