Topic: 

A Work Session to Advise the Board of Supervisors on Strategies to Educate the Public on the Benefits of a Food and Beverage Tax

Topic Description:

On June 12, 2008, the Board adopted a resolution to go forward with a public referendum during the November General Election for the implementation of a food and beverage tax.  Such tax is expected to yield $2.2 million in potential revenue.  This is a work session to advise the Board on possible strategies to educate the public regarding the benefits of such a tax for the construction, maintenance and renovation of capital projects.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Conduct a work session.
