A PROCLAMATION TO RECOGNIZE THE 17TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE PASSAGE OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
WHEREAS, the Federal Government of the United States of America recognizes the tremendous potential of individuals with disabilities and seeks to encourage all Americans to work toward full integration and inclusion of disabled persons in the community and passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) July 26, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the ADA is a Federal civil rights law designed to prevent discrimination and enable individuals with disabilities to participate fully in all aspects of society and guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, State and local government services and telecommunications; and
WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors commemorates the 17th Anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 2008; and
PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 10th day of July 2008, That July 26, 2008 be, and is hereby, recognized as the 17th Anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
