A Work Session to Discuss Two Future Capital Projects:  Public Safety Building and Parking Structure, and Main Library

Topic Description:

Public Safety

The Board of Supervisors previously received a report concerning possible locations for a new Public Safety building.  In December, the Board determined that a concept placing the new building between the existing 78 Lee Street Public Safety building and the Detention Center was the preferred alternative.  A parking deck is also planned to replace and expand surface parking now located across from the Courthouse.  The final report will be the basis for proceeding with additional design work for review by the Town Architectural Review Board and sufficient to allow for a decision to proceed with a PPEA approach or design contract for construction of the parking structure as the first phase of this project.

The Library Board requested a work session to discuss a future capital project concerning the Warrenton Central Library.  The project is now planned for 2014 as a replacement to the existing Library.  The issue of whether to undertake this project at a different location is of concern.
