The 2006 Bylaws and Rules of
Procedure of the Board of Supervisors contain specific
attendance requirements for members of standing and ad hoc
committees to which the Board appoints members. Presently,
a member who fails to attend 75% of scheduled meetings shall
be held to have forfeited committee membership. Since, due
to extenuating circumstances, it may not always be possible
for committee members to meet a 75% attendance requirement,
the Board wishes to consider an amendment to the Bylaws and
Rules of Procedure. The amendment will present an
opportunity for consideration to be given to the
circumstances of those committee members who fail to meet
the attendance requirement.
Section 4-12 of the Bylaws and Rules
of Procedure states that a majority vote of the entire Board
is required in order to effect an amendment, provided that
the proposed amendment must first be presented to the Board,
with the vote on the amendment to occur at a subsequent
meeting. The amendment is being presented herewith for the
Board’s consideration, with a vote to occur at the next
regularly scheduled meeting. |
