PROCLAMATION

 

A PROCLAMATION TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND HONOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ROGER STERLING FRASER TO THE CITIZENS OF FAUQUIER COUNTY

 

            WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, on behalf of all citizens of Fauquier County, wishes to express its deep sense of loss following the passing of Roger Sterling Fraser on May 14, 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize the many contributions of Roger Sterling Fraser to the citizens of Fauquier County; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser was born in Alaska on March 23, 1954, the son of Robert Fraser and Dora May John Fraser; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser was a veteran of the United Stated Army; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser’s career in public service was distinguished by the faithful and dedicated execution of the duties of his office, including as a Major with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office from 1992 until 1999, and then as a Lieutenant with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office until 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser was a firearms instructor for the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, and taught self-defense and home/business protection seminars throughout the community; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser held an appointment with the Virginia, National and International Sheriff’s Association, and traveled around the country promoting law enforcement; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser was a member of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office pistol team and the Sheriff’s Coalition, Local 5016; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser was a member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed duck hunting and was a respected member of the community in Sumerduck; and

 

WHEREAS, Roger Sterling Fraser is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kristy L. Fraser, two daughters, Ericka L. Johnston and Robin S. Fraser, all of Sumerduck; and

 

WHEREAS, the passing of Roger Sterling Fraser represents a great loss to the village of Sumerduck as well as to Fauquier County; now, therefore, be it

 

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 19th day of July 2004, That the Board of Supervisors, on behalf of all citizens of Fauquier County, extends its condolences to the family of Roger Sterling Fraser.
