A Resolution Authorizing the Establishment of a Citizen’s
Complaint Procedure Regarding Charges of ADA Discrimination as Related to Fauquier
County Government adheres to the provisions of the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) which states, in part, that “no otherwise
qualified disabled individual shall, solely by reason of such disability,
be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be
subjected to discrimination” in programs or activities sponsored by a
public entity. To formalize
compliance efforts, the Disabilities Services Board advocates County
adoption of a complaint procedure
which provides for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints by
citizens alleging discriminatory action prohibited by Federal, State and
local law or policy. To this
end, a citizen complaint procedure is submitted to the Board of
Supervisors for approval and adoption consideration. Requested
Action of the Board of Supervisors: Consider
adoption of the attached resolution. Fiscal
