Topic               Courthouse Improvements

Topic Description

Fauquier County has engaged the firm of Moseley Architects to plan and design improvements in the Courthouse.  At the Board work session held in June, it was the direction of the Board to consider other alternatives relative to the Circuit courtroom and related offices.  At the Board work session in July, in addition to reviewing the options presented in June,  information will be provided concerning the following other options:

1)      Consider two alternatives to expand the courthouse horizontally.

2)      Develop a concept with the courtrooms located on the fourth floor and the Judges’ offices and Commonwealth’s Attorney on the third.  Relocate the Community Development office from the third floor.

3)      Study renovating the current courtrooms so that the courtrooms are on one common level.

It is expected that representative of the Moseley group will be at the work session to review these options.

Discuss and review plans.

Financial Impacts Analysis

Funding in the amount of $1,500,000 has been previously appropriated for this project.
