The Fauquier County Fair
Board, a non-profit organization, has requested an abatement
of the landfill tipping fees associated with the disposal of
refuse from the 2007 County Fair.
The Fair Board has worked
with the County’s Environmental Services staff to reduce the
amount of refuse generated at the County Fair being disposed
of in the landfill. In 2005, there were 4.91 tons of waste,
and no recycling measures were taken. In 2006, minimal
recycling efforts were made, resulting in 6.18 tons of
waste, and .51 tons of recycling materials.
In 2007, waste was reduced
to 4.45 tons, and recycling was increased to 1.84 tons.
To minimize the expenses
associated with the County Fair, their Board has requested
abatement of $200.25 in landfill tipping fees for waste
resulting from the Fair.
