In December, 2006, the Virginia Department of Transportation
(VDOT) adopted state-wide “Traffic Impact Analysis
Regulations -- Administrative Guidelines.” These regulations
will expand the use of Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) for new
development and comprehensive planning. The requirements
went into effect July 1, 2007, and are being phased in
across the State, with implementation in the Culpeper
District starting in January, 2008. VDOT will be increasing
its use of the Synchro software for future TIAs.
The purpose of this work session is to provide the Board
members with an overview of the mechanics of the Synchro
software, its inputs and outputs, and to review the results
of the Synchro analysis performed for the Cross Creek
shopping center project in New Baltimore. The presentation
will reflect some of the issues that will need further
consideration at the Board of Supervisors public hearing on
the Cross Creek special exception and rezoning which is
targeted for September 13, 2007. |
