A Proposed Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment to Section 15-300 to Add a Definition of Fairgrounds


Topic Description:

The purpose of the text amendment is to add a new definition for fairgrounds.  Currently, there is no definition for this use and staff deemed it appropriate to amend the Zoning Ordinance to reflect the breadth of activity conducted at the Fauquier Fairgrounds.


Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached Ordinance.


Financial Impact Analysis:

No financial impact analysis has been conducted.


Summary Staff Report:


Fairgrounds are a use authorized by special permit pursuant to Zoning Ordinance Category 11, Article 3. Traditionally, the Fauquier Fairgrounds has been a venue for a wide variety of activities.  The purpose of this amendment is simply to recognize and codify such uses.

This proposed text amendment was initiated by the Planning Commission on May 25, 2006. After a public hearing on June 29, 2006, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended adoption.
