A Resolution to Authorize the Revision of Human Resources Policy 16-A, Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance

Topic Description:

Policy 16-A, Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance, of the Fauquier County Human Resources Policy Manual has been revised to:

        Update the agreement between the County and the employee receiving tuition reimbursement/education assistance, revising the terms for repayment should employment be terminated;

        Broaden some of the definitions to assist more employees with their educational endeavors;

        Improve the policy format; and

        Reduce the maximum reimbursement allowed per fiscal year per employee.

The revision of Policy 16-A, Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance, has received the endorsement of the Personnel Committee.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The fiscal impact will be minimal.  The FY2007 Adopted Budget for Tuition Reimbursement is as follows:

        Undergraduate:  $7,000.00

        Graduate:  $16,343.00

These budget lines have not been exhausted in recent fiscal years.
