A Resolution to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)
Supporting Placement of Historic Sign Markers for John
Marshall’s Leeds Manor Rural Historic District
|
|
Topic Description:
In November of 2007, the John Marshall’s Leeds Manor Rural
Historic District was placed on the Virginia Landmarks and
National Register of Historic Places. The Citizens for
Fauquier County (CFFC) has budgeted and expressed to VDOT
that it wants to place signs in the public right-of-way that
both welcome and announce to the traveling public that they
have entered this district. Pursuant to the Zoning
Ordinance, there is no County permitting process required
where such an organization partners with the County in the
placement of such signs; however, the historic markers will
need to meet VDOT sign placement requirements associated
with safety, size, and color.
With the celebration of Fauquier County’s 250th
Anniversary, such signs are a welcomed addition to remind
our citizens and others about the heritage and special place
through which they are passing. |
