Stimulus funding is
available for renewable
energy deployment
projects such as the
waste to energy facility
proposed for the
Fauquier County Sanitary
Landfill discussed at
previous Board of
Supervisors’ meetings.
The maximum award allowed
under this grant
opportunity is
$21,450,000, which, if
awarded, would fund a
portion of anticipated
construction costs.
The grant
announcement envisions
between one and four
awards under this
program, with a minimum
award of $5 million.
Funding for the
remainder of the
construction costs would
be sought from
third-party,
non-governmental
entities through
public-private
partnerships or similar
agreements.
Other
grants will be sought to
provide additional
funding for the
construction and
deployment of the
proposed facility.
Pursuant to the Grant
Application and
Acceptance Policy,
authorization to apply
for this grant must be
requested of the Board
prior to submitting an
application, which is
due September 3, 2009.
