Topic Description:
On November 9, 2006, the
Board of Supervisors passed a Resolution to form an
Affordable Housing Committee charged with reviewing and
prioritizing recommendations set forth in an Affordable
Housing Task Force report issued in September 2006.
On May 8, 2008, the Board of
Supervisors held a Work Session to review the Fauquier
County Affordable Committee’s preliminary recommendations,
one of which is to update the Comprehensive Plan to reflect
the goal for diversity of housing type, price, and density.
The current Comprehensive Plan housing policies were
adopted in 1994 and warrant re-evaluation in light of more
current demographics and socio-economic data contained in
the Affordable Housing Committee’s reports. Community
Development staff participates on the Affordable Housing
Committee and would assist in organizing already compiled
data and draft policies for incorporation into the Chapter 4
of the Comprehensive Plan for review by the Planning
Commission and the Board of Supervisors. |
