RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION TO UPDATE COUNTY HOUSING POLICIES IN CHAPTER 4: LAND USE AND ZONING- FAUQUIER COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN 

WHEREAS, on September 14, 2006, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, received and reviewed a report with recommendations from the Affordable Housing Task Force; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors approved a budget to support Affordable Housing  activities in the amount of $289,000 in the Fiscal Year 2007 Budget; and

WHEREAS,  on November 9, 2006, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors appointed Affordable Housing Committee members charged with reviewing and prioritizing the recommendations set forth in the Affordable Housing Task Force Report, and developing implementation plans for consideration by the Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, the Affordable Housing Committee members diligently pursued these tasks involving extensive assistance from Habitat for Humanity, Fauquier Housing Corporation, Fauquier Family Shelter, and Community Touch, that are charitable organizations with committed leaders that on a daily basis continue to successfully address many housing and related social service needs for hundreds of Fauquier County citizens; and 

WHEREAS, on May 8, 2008, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors received the Affordable Housing Committee’s “Needs Assessment” and the “Needs Assessment Executive Summary” containing current housing and demographic statistics and associated draft housing policies; now, therefore, be it   

RESOLVED by the Fauquier county Board of Supervisors this 14th day of August 2008, That Fauquier County commends these housing organizations, their members, and their supporters for all of their work; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors hereby directs the Planning Commission and staff to update and consider revision of the housing policies contained in Chapter 4: Zoning and Land Use - Fauquier County Comprehensive Plan.
