RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION TO CONSIDER FILING A NOTICE OF INTENT TO PARTIALLY MINE
THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTES IN THE OLD LANDFILL

PERMIT # 149

            WHEREAS, Virginia’s Solid Waste Management Regulations require that the old landfill be fully closed by January 1, 2009 at significant expense; and

            WHEREAS, a feasibility study has been completed indicating the feasibility of mining construction and demolition wastes from the old landfill; and

            WHEREAS, the mining and expansion of the old landfill will create 15 to 20 years of additional landfill capacity; and  

            WHEREAS, a public comment period was advertised and held from June 30, 2008 through July 11, 2008, and a public meeting held on July 2, 2008 with no comments being submitted; now, therefore, be it

            RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 14^th day of August 2008, That the Fauquier County Administrator be, and is hereby, authorized to submit a Notice of Intent to the Department of Environmental Quality to partially mine the construction and demolition wastes in the old landfill.
