Topic: 

Resolution to Request the Virginia Department of Transportation to Provide Signage and Barricades Consistent with, but not Limited to, Those Described in the Homeland Security Emergency Transportation Plan

Topic Description:

Fauquier County and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are currently in the process of drafting a Homeland Security Emergency Transportation Plan.  This plan will be used to assure the safety and security of all citizens of Fauquier County in the event of an emergency.  A major provision of the plan is the appropriate placement of signage and barricades directing ingress to and egress from the County.  This is a resolution requesting VDOT to oversee the procurement and installation of signage and barricades consistent with, but not limited to, the plan.  At its July 16, 2003 meeting, the Public Safety Committee endorsed this request. 

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
