Update on the Installation of Television Recording Capability for Governmental Meetings

Topic Description:

The purpose of this work session is to update the Board of Supervisors regarding the installation of television recording capability in the Warren Green Meeting Room.  Staff will review the recommended basic set-up and discuss additional audio-visual options and a proposal to install television-recording capability in the Board of Supervisors Conference Room.

The installation of this equipment is tentatively scheduled for completion in early January 2004, once the renovations to the Warren Green Building have been completed.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Provide guidance to staff regarding whether or not the staff should proceed with the current installation plan, and which, if any, of the options the Board may also wish to include.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

As part of the Cable Franchise renewal, Adelphia provided $61,345 in the form of an initial equipment grant, to support governmental programming.  Of this total, $15,000 has been earmarked to support the equipment needs of the School Division for their planned educational channel.  The remaining $46,345 is available to support this plan.  The cost of the basic plan is estimated to be $36,675.  The total cost, including all options presented, is estimated at $48,375.
