A Resolution to Schedule a Public Hearing to Amend the Lease With Midland Development Corporation for the Construction of T-Hangar Three at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport

Topic Description:

The Airport Committee has been considering a proposal from Midland Development Corporation to lease property under the terms of an existing agreement for the construction of a third t-hangar.  Subsequent to receiving this proposal, Fauquier County was successful in obtaining grant funds for 80% of the design costs related to site improvements for the hangar.  A further request for State funding for the actual site work will be considered at the August Virginia Department of Aviation annual board meeting.

The proposal from Midland for the thirty-year land lease is consistent with the layout of the airport master plan.  Midland proposes to provide funding for the local share of the site improvement grant, as well as pay an annual lease payment of $.37 per square foot.  The Airport Committee has reviewed the Midland proposal and recommends approval.  The next step in this process is to conduct a public hearing to consider amending the existing lease to allow construction of a third t-hangar.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Schedule a public hearing to consider amending the Midland Development Corporation lease.
