A Resolution to Authorize the City of Winchester to Design, Construct and Equip an Addition to the CFFW Regional Adult Detention Center

Topic Description:

Fauquier County is a participant in a regional jail located in Winchester , Virginia , known as the Clarke-Fauquier-Frederick-Winchester Regional Adult Detention Center .  Due to chronic overcrowding issues, as further detailed in the attached Information Sheet, the CFFW Regional Jail Board (of which Fauquier County is a member) voted to seek proposals under the provisions of the Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002 (“PPEA”) for construction of a new work-release facility.  A proposal has been submitted by Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., for financing, land acquisition, design, construction and furnishing of the new facility at the regional facility in partnership with the City of Winchester .  The attached resolution authorizes the City of Winchester to proceed with the addition to the Regional Adult Detention Facility pursuant to the PPEA Proposal submitted by Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adopting the attached resolution.
