The
proposed amendment to the Department’s fee schedule focuses on
engineering reviews required for seven specific plan categories.
Of those categories, five are for plan review or service
categories where fees have never been assessed.
Those fees are described in the analysis section.
The Board of
Supervisors conducted a public hearing on the proposed fee
schedule on July 15, 2002, with no public opposition presented
regarding the fee additions or increases as described herein.
Final action on this request was postponed until the August 19th
regular meeting. A
resolution for adoption of the proposed Community Development Fee
Schedule is included.

The
increase in development activity within Fauquier County has
resulted in the demand for specific engineering application
reviews, site visits, processing and associated actions not
required with much frequency in the past. As a result, the County
engineer or assigned staff completed the task with no fee charge.
Times change, and now fees need to be assessed due to the
volume increase in review and action requests for floodplain
studies, infrastructure improvements, wetland banking plans,
initial bond estimates, street acceptance requests into the VDOT
Secondary System of State Highways, supplemental land
disturbing/erosion and sediment control plans and amendments, and
bond reduction/release/extensions.
Those reviews and actions require staffing, and
compensation for the costs.
A
brief explanation of each category and their requisite fee is
included. If there
are any questions regarding the proposed fees, staff will be
available to provide answers.
