Topic: 

A Resolution to Approve the Assignment and Change of Control of the Fauquier County Cable Franchise to a Subsidiary of Comcast Corporation

Topic Description:

Adelphia Communications Corporation is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.  Pursuant to an Asset Purchase Agreement between Adelphia and Time Warner Cable Inc., and an Exchange Agreement between Time Warner Cable Inc. and Comcast Corporation, Comcast Corporation will take over the currently existing Fauquier County cable franchise agreement with Adelphia Communications Corporation.  The Fauquier County cable franchise Ordinance requires that the Board of Supervisors must decide whether to purchase the system or approve the transfer ultimately to Comcast Corporation.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
