Topic: 

A Resolution Approving an Increase in the LEOS Retirement Benefit Multiplier for Officers of the Northwestern Regional Jail Authority

Topic Description:

The Board of the Northwestern Regional Jail Authority has voted to increase the Law Enforcement Officer Retirement System (LEOS) retirement benefit multiplier for its officers from l.70% of average final compensation to 1.85% in accordance with enabling legislation enacted by the Virginia General Assembly.  This action requires approval by the Governing Bodies of each of the localities participating in the Regional Jail Authority.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The increase in the multiplier will be paid from the Jail’s existing fund balance in FY 2008.
