As
part of the Parks and Recreation Department's ongoing maintenance
program, and based on industry standards, outdoor courts should be
renovated every 10 years. The
majority of courts in the County have not been renovated within
this time period. The
courts in most need of repair include Marshall Middle School
tennis courts, Cedar Lee Middle School tennis courts, Vint Hill
Village Green tennis courts, and the playcourts at Bradley
Elementary School. Parks
and Recreation has previously worked with a contractor, American
Tennis Courts, Inc., which is under an open-ended contract with
Fairfax County to perform this type of work, to repair courts at
Pearson Elementary, Pierce Elementary, and Cedar Lee Middle.
The contract is available to other governments in northern
Virginia, including Fauquier County.
This contract and the scope of work outlined on the
enclosures will be used for the purchase order/contract.
The proposed contract work includes resurfacing each of
these courts, with a more sophisticated system proposed for Vint
Hill due to the severity of deterioration of the current surface,
replacement of tennis court fencing at Marshall Middle and Cedar
Lee Middle, and reapplication of game and educational stencils at
Bradley. The cost of
the work is detailed in the enclosed
attachments provided by American Tennis Courts, Inc.
