A
newly enacted provision in the Code of Virginia authorizes the
County to add this fee to the court costs of any individual who is
admitted to jail following a conviction.
The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on August
19, 2002 to receive citizen comments.

Consider
adoption of the attached ordinance.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Additional
revenue to benefit the Sheriff's Office by offsetting the costs of
processing arrested persons into local or regional jails.
